Annual Report 2010-2011

 In Centre News

The UPEACE Centre for Executive Education delivers dynamic workshops, seminars and training courses to nonprofit leaders, social entrepreneurs, business executives, educators, and other professional audiences.

In 2010, the Centre developed and launched the 6-week online course, ‘Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Social Change’ that has already been taken by over 100 social innovators from around the world. The vision for the online courses is that the experience should be as powerful as our face-to-face seminars, while giving participants the flexibility to take the course from wherever they are based. These new offerings will allow us to welcome participants who would have not otherwise been able to join our classroom courses.

During the academic year of 2010-2011, the Centre also expanded its relationships with Universities and Community Colleges that are looking for an international experience in Costa Rica from themes that range from ‘International Business’ to ‘Leadership for Sustainable Development’.

The Centre also continued to offer five open enrollment courses:

  • Skills for Nonprofit Leadership
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Walking the Talk
  • Educating for the 21st Century
  • Sustainable Business: Leading the Change (held in London)
  • Beyond Traditional Leadership

This last course was a newoffering for the Centre and brought together managers from different sectors in society, all interested in enhancing their leadership skills.

Overall, in the academic year of 2010-2011, the UPEACE Centre for Executive Education grew its enrollment to over 250 students and started a new phase in its evolution through its new dynamic online courses.
