Human-Centered Design – Costa Rica
On-site in Costa RicaNovember 10, 2018
Are you facing challenges that are not easily addressed through a conventional problem-solving approach either in your professional or personal life? Do you need to stimulate innovation in your organization? Human-Centered Design is a creative approach to problem-solving that brings together empathy, teamwork and rationality. It is both a mindset of feeling the confidence to take on challenges as well as a logical process.
This intensive workshop will guide you through the methodology, combining some theory with hands-on practical application in small groups. By the end of the seminar you will have practiced the methodology with a real challenge you are facing and will also be prepared to apply the process back to your workplace or personal life.
What is Human-Centered Design?
Pioneered by the famous design company IDEO, Human-Centered Design is an approach to problem-solving that puts the needs of the end user at the heart of the problem-solving process. Human-Centered Design originated to combat design problems targeting the development of physical products, but is now commonly used in business, international development, education and more. The process offers a set of concrete steps that encourage creativity and innovation, and collaborative responses to the every day challenges we all face.
HCD is a very flexible process. It’s being used in a lot of different contexts from designing in high-tech companies to non-profits looking to solve complex issues. At the end of the day it’s a very logical set of steps that you can apply to any issue, including ones in your personal life. For example, design thinking has been used to help people break negative patterns, exercise more, and develop healthier relationships. It captures a ‘let’s learn by trying it out’ approach.
