Sustainable Business: Leading the change
This year’s 2-day Seminar in London titled ‘Sustainable Business – Leading the Change’ was oversubscribed, with the 28 participants pleased to have secured their spots. The six sessions, ranging from ‘Leadership for Sustainability’ to ‘Communications and Stakeholder Engagement’ were led by a number of guest speakers working in the field.
Giselle Weybrecht, author of the recently published book ‘The Sustainable MBA – The Manager’s Guide to Green Business’ was one of them. She engaged participants with controversial ethical dilemmas based on real-life situations in the sustainability world. Isabela Souza, our Brazilian speaker from Price Waterhouse Cooper, concluded her session presenting McKinsey’s framework on dimensions of leadership, which encouraged participants to find meaning, manage energy, engage, connect, and frame issues positively! This was contrasted with the more technical session by Dax Lovegrove, with the World Wildlife Fund, responsible for international partnerships, who analyzed WWF’s strategy to dismantle the consumer culture of “I shop therefore I am”. Participant feedback suggested that their expectations were exceeded in these two intense days.
Given the demand for this seminar, the co-organizers, Ideal Media and the UPEACE Centre for Executive Education will offer the course again in October, 2011.
